Calculating P and L Dimensions B-3
December 2003
Use the following formula to determine the P dimension:
[ID + 2(WT)]/(cos MA) + 2(CL - FD) = P Dimension
For example, given the following:
• a stack inside diameter of 48 in.
• wall thickness of 3/8 in.
• installed coupling length of 2.0 in.
• a transducer face depth of 1.75 in.
• 45 degree mounting angle
The P dimension would be
[48 in. + 2(3/8 in.)]/(0.7071) + 2(2.0 in. - 1.75 in.) = 69.4 in.
